Refund Policy
This policy describes when and how mybillbook ("mb", "we") issues refunds for paid subscriptions. The Service is currently in private beta and free of charge; this Policy takes effect when we introduce paid plans (we will give at least 30 days' notice via email and an in-app banner before doing so).
1. Scope
This Policy covers subscription fees only. It does not cover one-off transactional charges (e.g. e-invoicing per-IRN fees once that feature ships), GST or other government taxes collected on our behalf, or third-party charges (payment-gateway fees, qpdf PDF-rendering surcharges if metered).
2. Beta period
During the private beta, the Service is provided free of charge. There is nothing to refund and this Policy has no operational effect. Section 3 onwards applies prospectively from the date paid plans launch.
3. 14-day no-questions refund
For monthly or annual subscriptions, you may request a full refund within 14 calendar days of your first subscription charge for that plan. No reason required; email founder@billmybill.com with the subject "Refund request — <account email>".
We will process the refund within 7 working days of receiving the request, to the original payment instrument. Bank-side settlement typically takes a further 3–5 working days.
4. Pro-rata refund (annual plans)
For annual subscriptions cancelled after the 14-day window but within the first 30 days, we issue a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of the year, computed as:
refund = annual_fee × (days_remaining / 365) After day 30 of an annual term, no refund is issued — the subscription continues to its natural end date, after which it does not auto-renew (cancellation stops billing prospectively).
5. Monthly plans after the 14-day window
Monthly subscriptions cancelled after the 14-day window are not refunded for the current billing cycle. The subscription continues to the end of the paid month, after which it does not auto-renew.
6. Service-level credits
If a confirmed outage prevents you from using core invoicing or GST-return functionality for more than 4 consecutive hours within a billing cycle, you may request a pro-rata service credit equal to one day of subscription per 24 hours of outage. This is distinct from a refund and is applied to the next invoice rather than returned to your payment instrument.
Service credits are capped at 10 days per billing cycle. Planned maintenance announced ≥48 hours in advance does not count toward the outage clock.
7. When we will not refund
- Charges for past billing cycles that were used (subscription consumed in full).
- Accounts terminated for violation of Section 4 (Acceptable use) of the Terms of Service.
- Government taxes already remitted to the appropriate authority on your behalf.
- Third-party charges passed through at cost (e-invoicing IRN fees, SMS, etc.) once those features ship.
8. How to request
Email founder@billmybill.com from the address on your mb account. Include:
- Reason for refund (optional for §3, required for §6).
- The mb invoice number or transaction ID if you have it.
- Whether you also want the account closed (otherwise it stays open).
We respond within 2 working days. If a refund is approved, the return is initiated within 7 working days of approval.
9. Disputes
If we decline a refund and you disagree, the dispute is governed by Section 11 of the Terms of Service: exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka. Before escalating, we encourage you to raise the issue with our Grievance Officer (see DPDP disclosures) — most disputes resolve within one round of correspondence.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may revise this Policy when launching paid plans or in response to operational learnings. Material changes are announced via email and an in-app banner at least 14 days before they take effect. Changes apply prospectively; charges already incurred under a prior version of this Policy are refunded under that prior version.
Template scaffolding. Operator should have this Policy reviewed by Indian counsel before paid plans launch.
